Our mission
The Belgian Federation of Football Agents (BFFA) is a not-for-profit organization which has been formed to promote, organise and enforce a high standard of professionalism, clarity and regulatory control in the Belgian industry of football agents.
The BFFA seeks to participate in the sound regulation of football agents and to combat corruption and criminal activities in sports.
The BFFA aims to be part of the national football structures of Belgium through a constructive dialogue with the authorities and Belgian football governing bodies.
The BFFA wishes to contribute as well on an international level to the debate on football regulations through a cooperation with the European Football Agents Association (EFAA), UEFA & FIFA.
The BFFA wishes to stress its important role in the (self-) regulation of the profession of football agents and professional football in general, within the boundaries of European Law.
Efficient and enforceable regulation is merely achievable with the support, participation and the consent of the organized collective of football agents, in a spirit of transparency and collaboration with all relevant stakeholders in football.
Our program
The BFAA wishes to cooperate with the Belgian and international football governing bodies and authorities in order to realise the following goals:
- Develop a quality label for football agents, based on a fit & proper test (taking into account professional skills, experience, ethical behaviour and compliance with the rule of law)
- Creation of a solid legal framework for the regulation of the activities of football agents, clubs and players concerning all issues related to transfers, player agreements and representation. Such legal framework should include (without limitation):
- strict rules on representation agreements between football agents and players & between agents and clubs
- a regulatory guarantee on the stability of such contracts
- a distinction between player representation, club representation and dual representation agreements
- a transparent sanctioning and enforcement system, through an arbitration procedure, enabling to impose sanctions in case of infractions or other malpractices
- Ban on the activities of “unregistered football agents” and a better control on registered football agents working as a front for unregistered agents
- Better protection of youth players and minors.
News
10/02/2020
The vzw Belgian Federation of Football Agents asbl (“BFFA”) has duly taken note of the report of the (second) Expert Committee of the Belgian Pro League (“PL”) and wishes to share the following official views:
- The PL’s own experts confirm that BFFA was right!. The PL’s experts report entirely confirms BFFA’s position on the Clearing House!! As BFFA already states since 2018 a clearing house is very good improvement, but:
- such clearing house should be independent (NOT organized exclusively by Pro League!) and
- such clearing house should control all amounts involved in a football transfer (NOT only our commissions) and
- such clearing house should be established by federal law (NOT by Pro League regulations)
